The Proverb 31 Biblical scripture is one many women have continuously strived to imitate, but is doing so to the calamity of THEIR talents & God-given right of equality. It’s interesting that in 2012 men still view women as ‘helpers’. Is the Proverb 31 Biblical perspective still valid? Interesting take…and rebuttal.
The Great Demise of Gratitude…
Just finished a heated discussion with a friend about friendship and gratitude. He thinks friends should not have to ASK each other for favors, but should instead simply STATE what they need (and expect it to be done). I think everyone deserves the courtesy of being asked (w/o expectation). My friend also believes that appreciation is innate in a friendship, and doesn’t need to be expressed. This is where I began to think that my friend is nuts!
I believe that gratitude must absolutely be expressed to those we love, above and beyond what we express to strangers & outsiders. If I can say “thank you” to a stranger who holds the door for me, I can sure as hell say “THANK YOU” to my friends and loved ones who do that and more. People really need to stop taking love relationships for granted. Like REALLY. I tell my son thank you for taking out the trash, despite it being one of his duties around the house.
I’m sorry, but it’s common sense to me to express my appreciation to the people I love, above and beyond what I express to outsiders & strangers, or someone I may have to suck up to! Bump that! I want my loved ones to know I love and appreciate them because I show them…and I tell them. IDK, maybe it’s just me…or maybe it’s a man thing.
